Stiegl is Austria’s largest privately owned brewery and in 2014 was voted Austria’s favourite beer. Founded in 1492 in Salzburg, there is documentary evidence that suggest Mozart drank it in his day … and he was a genius! It’s still a family run business so they don’t have to make any shareholders happy. As a result, all of the money gets re-invested into making better beer. Stiegl now boast one of the most modern breweries in Europe. They work together with farmers to ensure the quality of their ingredients and they even have a small farm of their own. They’re on the national rail network too!
SCHREMSER
Brauerei Schrems is a small local brewery situated in a nature reserve in the north of Austria where the water is perfect for brewing and the organic farmers grow malt and hops to Karl’s exacting specifications. Schremser produces a range of traditional and innovative beer styles that are starting to gain international recognition such as their famous Bio-Roggenbier, a Rye beer that won silver medal at the beer world cup in 2008. It tastes like liquid bread topped with spicy vanilla ice cream. Their lagers are legendary too and after some convincing, they agreed to brew one just for us!
HIRTER
“Item taberna in Hurde solvit talentum”…
these historic cryptic words about the Hirt brewery were recorded back in 1270, and for those of you who know your beer but aren’t quite so hot on Latin: this means something along the lines of “Equally, the tavern at Hirt shall pay one talent”. This may not sound terribly exciting on the surface, but it’s pretty significant. Why? Well, it was with these very words that the Hirt brewery was given its first ever mention in the assets register of Gurk Cathedral Chapter, earning it the title as one of Austria’s oldest breweries.CERVECERA PENÍNSULA
Cervecera Península is the realisation of the dream of a father and son team, of sharing their passion for the beers of the American West Coast and the essence of the global beer movement. Throughout their beers, the brewery aims to incorporate the experiences of their years in Colorado at the beginning of the craft beer movement in the United States and later the knowledge acquired by their Head Brewer in his studies in California.
The brewery has a strong core portfolio of American-inspired beers and has collaborated with Euroboozer on the launch of La Fiesta, a Spanish pale ale brewed with local oranges, produced exclusively for the UK market.
GIESINGER BRÄU
Munich’s seventh brewery, Giesinger Bräu began life as a garage brewing project in 2008, set up by
brewer Steffen Marx. Since then, Giesinger Bräu has become the second largest private brewery in Munich and is the first successful brewery in 300 years.Giesinger Bräu’s beer is produced with a focus on traditional craft production, brewing genuine Munich beer specialties, and as such, Giesinger Bräu is theoretically entitled to the benefits that accrue Munich’s ‘Big Six’ beermakers. Considering the quality of the beers produced, it’s hardly surprising that the brewery has garnered such a sprawling community of fans.
BLAK STOC CIDER
Brewmaster Karl fermented his first cider as a young schoolboy, many years before he was of legal age to taste it – but with superb ciders of this standard the result, who are we to argue? Since that first foray into fermentation, the young sensation never stopped experimenting, working with a huge range of different sorts of fruits and flavour combinations. This passion for natural ingredients and the wonders of fermentation is shared by our team and is reflected in our range of innovative ciders on offer for distribution.
Brouwerij De Leite & Paljas
Established in 2008, Brouwerij De Leite brews outstanding Belgian beers from a site in Ruddervoorde, West Flanders.
Since its inception, the brewery’s production capacity has grown exponentially. In 2011, the brewery acquired 14 ‘barieken’ from the Medoc area of France, which allowed brewer-owner Luc Vermeersch to finally translate his love for sour
beers into the brewery with a series of ‘cuvée beers’. A new bottling line was also installed in 2018, ensuring the beers could be bottled in situ.Luc Vermeersch also acquired Paljas in 2021, an already well-known brewery throughout Flanders. With the original owner hoping to sell and move on to other activities, the acquisition of Paljas just made sense, with both brands further strengthening each other and all beers now brewed at the same brewery.
KLOSTERBRAUEREI ANDECHS
The Klosterbrauerei Andechs is a monastic brewery in Andechs, Upper Bavaria, Germany – an area well known and loved for its Andechser beers. There’s something truly special about the speciality beer originating from this brewery, and we’re proud to represent them. Perhaps the magic touch is due to the fact that the brewery is run by the monks of Andechs Abbey, a priory of St. Boniface's Abbey, a Benedictine abbey situated 40 km away in Munich.
SKA BREWING
When it comes to bringing home the bacon, assuming that bacon is made of the world’s best craft beer, nobody does it quite like Ska. Somewhere out in Colorado, in the year nineteen hundred and ninety-five, two guys named Dave and Bill learned that while they loved gulping down good beer, they weren’t yet old enough to buy it. On the second Skaturday of Skatember it hit them. If they brewed their own beer they’d have all the beer they could ever want. And while they were at it, why not brew the most magnificent suds ever quaffed in their neck of the woods.
